4 Outdoors Activities To Try When The Lockdown Ends

Given  the unprecedented circumstances all around the world, most of us are now self-isolating, and the glorious weather can make it even more frustrating to be stuck indoors. But this doesn’t mean you can’t make plans for later in the year when we can all enjoy the great outdoors again.

Gloucestershire police have reported people have been travelling to the Cotswolds, despite the repeated requests for people to remain indoors, so stay safe at home, and give yourself something to look forward to!

  • Dig out the tent and go camping

With this year’s music festivals all cancelled or postponed, many people will be packing their tents and sleeping bags back away, but a camping trip once we’re free to travel could be just the means to connect again with nature. Invest in a good sleeping bag and roll mat to make sure you get a good night’s sleep!

  • Put on your trainers and run a marathon

As running and jogging are one of the acceptable reasons to go outside at the moment, why not consider training for a marathon? It does sound like a rather daunting task for the uninitiated, but there are apps and training programs such as Couch To 5K that will help you achieve your goals, and also get exercise during the lockdown.

  • Challenge yourself to a mountain hike

We are lucky in the UK that we have mountains and hills nearly on our doorsteps, and there’s a hike for every type of explorer. The National Trust lists many walking routes, such as the Horseshoe Ridge hike in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, or England’s highest mountain Scafell Pike.

  • Go to the pub!

Whatever activity you do, surely you’ll be wanting a refreshing drink at the end of the day, so after the closure of pubs across the country, celebrate the end of the lockdown with a visit to your local!
